My 1st 2 Weeks of College and Beyond
Hey Intrigued Person, I assume you're here to hear about my college experience. Let's go.
I am taking 12 credit hours this semester, this means I am taking four classes. The lecture hours are divided across four days so I don't have three straight hours of lecture per class. This means I have class four days a week and have three days off.
The classes I am taking are Government, History, English, and everyone's favorite "The Freshmen" Class. Alright, I'm being sarcastic, but it is the freshman class in the sense that you have to take it in your first semester and in that it basically teaches you how to be an autonomous learner. Ooh, look at me already using my vocabulary words.
So now to the nitty-gritty, right. What am I doing to learn from these classes and manage them? What myths about the first week have I experienced. How do these classes challenge me? Well, the best way to explain this would be class by class.
The Freshman Class, my teacher does a slow and steady amount of challenging us.
- I have only had two teachers let the class out early and they actually do it because their lectures are so short. The other two seem to barely finish their lectures on time.
- I bought the textbooks after the first class and only one teacher happens to not use it very much, specifically the one on Tuesday and Thursday, but he created the curriculum for the department so he thinks the book is supplemental and does require us to read a chapter (about once a week). My other teachers teach directly out of the textbook.
- I made a cohesive reading schedule for each class. While I need to complete chapter 1 of every class, some books have shorter chapters than others. I have completed three of the four and even finished chapter two in one class, but I definitely feel like I am already falling behind. My first three classes are already in chapter two, while my fourth is lingering in chapter one. This is hilarious because my fourth class is the one I was stressed about the most due to all the optional lessons and quizzes I thought were required.
- I made an assignment schedule and I have already had an assignment from each class to turn in.
- At the end of each course, I made a perfect 90 or above, so now I am at a 4.0 GPA. Feel free to check out my Pinterest for tips on how I made it through my freshman year.
